https://radioinsight.com/wp-content/images/2020/05/931wibc-200x200.pngWith the pending sale (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/228515/emmis-sells-indianapolis-stations-to-radio-one/) of Emmis Communications’ Indianapolis cluster to Radio One awaiting final FCC approval, Emmis has made a round of cuts at its stations ahead of the consolidation of the two clusters.
The Indianapolis Business Journal (https://www.ibj.com/articles/eight-emmis-employees-lose-jobs-in-advance-of-sale-of-radio-stations) reports that eight employees were let go today as Radio One will not have positions for them following the closing of the deal. The move affected one on-air talent as News/Talk 93.1 WIBC (https://www.wibc.com) political reporter Eric Berman departs after 28 years with the station where he served as Indiana Statehouse bureau chief. The other seven cuts came from the cluster’s marketing, IT, and digital content departments.
An Emmis spokesperson told the IBJ, “Today, Emmis notified eight individuals that their positions have been eliminated. Impacted individuals are being provided severance and offered insurance coverage. These are difficult days, and we wish them nothing but success.”

Some personal news: this morning my tenure at WIBC came to an end. For 28 years, it has been my privilege to bring you fair and detailed coverage of news affecting Hoosiers' lives, and I hope you'll stick around for whatever comes next.
