https://radioinsight.com/wp-content/images/2022/07/881indie-200x200.jpgNorth Texas University flipped Jazz “88.1 The One (https://www.kntu.com)” KNTU McKinney/Dallas TX to Alternative “88.1 Indie (http://www.881indie.881theone.com)” at noon today.
Positioning as “DFW’s Independent Alternative”, the station’s music is fairly mainstream compared to most non-commercial Alternative stations as we heard Coldplay “Yellow”, Machine Gun Kelly ft. Blackbear “My Ex’s Best Friend”, No Doubt “Spiderwebs”, Wet Leg “Wet Dream”, and The Black Keys “Howlin For You” in our first sampling.
KNTU rimshots the Dallas market from its northern suburbs. The new format positions the station between Audacy’s “Alt 103.7 (https://www.audacy.com/alt1037dfw)” KVIL and North Texas Public Broadcasting AAA “91.7 KXT (https://kxt.org)” KXXT.
The former Jazz format, which dates to the 1980s, continues to stream online.
