Gilbert had been hosting a weekend show at WTMD since 2010. He began his career at Rock 102.3 WHFS Bethesda MD in 1970 and followed the station to 99.1 through its transition to Alternative until exiting in 2003. He later hosted nights at Classic Rock “94.7 The Arrow” WARW Washington from 2003 to 2007 and then mornings at successor AAA “94.7 The Globe” until 2009.
With his final program airing in mid-June, Gilbert told the Baltimore Banner (https://www.thebaltimorebanner.com/culture/music/times-they-are-a-changin-baltimore-area-radio-icon-weasel-finds-himself-off-air-FWT2IGL74BB7BPZYTQZT3ZQQUY/), “I was basically told, ‘We don’t want you here anymore, We’re going in a different direction,’ which is corporate gobbledygook * ‘We’re going younger and more urban.’”
