The Rutland Herald reports (https://www.rutlandherald.com/news/local/new-americana-radio-station-launches/article_5d40e39d-beed-520f-83ca-c2af2219a389.html) that the station is being operated by Chip Morgan, who also runs Sun Signals AAA “Farm Fresh Radio (http://farmfreshradio.com)” 102.9 WCLX Westport NY/Burlington VT. Morgan describes the new format as, “‘The roots of American music. We’re describing it as a locally hand-curated mix of Americana, which will include rock, folk, blues and great old country classics. It’s a real cool mix of different songs you wouldn’t think would be played together. It’s music designed for people who like music, not people who only like hair metal bands or who only like classic rock.” The station launched its new brand on July 4 after stunting over the holiday weekend with patriotic music.
WEXP went silent in July 2021 as its license was transferred from Music Guild International back to previous owner Woodchuck Radio to resolve a lawsuit after Music Guild International defaulted on its purchase payments. Music Guild International acquired WEXP in November 2019 for $275,000. That programming station went online only (https://wexp.org) after being unable to make payments after they lost one of their primary donors to a cancer diagnosis.
The new “Mud Radio” has no web presence but is streaming here (https://playoutonestreaming.com/proxy/wmud?mp=/stream).
