https://radioinsight.com/wp-content/images/2022/06/big957-200x200.pngIn a move first indicated in our 5/11 Domain Insight (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/netgnomes/225530/domain-insight-5-11-townsquare-cherry-creek-spinoffs-to-result-in-flips-at-multiple-operators/), Stephens Media Group has launched Classic Hits “Big 95.7 (https://big957.com)” KKSR Walla Walla/Kennewick WA.
KKSR had been Christian AC “95.7 The Bridge (https://1061thebridge.com)” whose format has relocated to 960 KALE/106.1 K291BS Richland replacing AC “106.1 More-FM“.
The new “Big 95.7” is positioning as “Hits of the 80s, 90s and Beyond” as it returns the Classic Hits format to both the Kennewick/Richland/Pasco and Walla Walla markets with core artists listed as Hall & Oates, Madonna, Phil Collins, Duran Duran, Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson, Journey, Whitney Houston, Billy Joel and Prince.
The flip comes ahead of the imminent closing (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/229029/fcc-approves-townsquares-cherry-creek-acquisition-while-townsquare-seeks-to-retain-one-additional-station/) of Townsquare Media’s acquisition of Cherry Creek Media combining both company’s operations in the market. In our 5/11 Domain Insight report (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/netgnomes/225530/domain-insight-5-11-townsquare-cherry-creek-spinoffs-to-result-in-flips-at-multiple-operators/) we also indicated the likelihood of Townsquare bringing a Classic Hits station into the market.
