Cochran most recently hosted mornings at Nexstar News/Talk 720 WGN from August 2013 until the end of 2019 (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/182499/bob-sirott-to-replace-steve-cochran-in-mornings-at-wgn/). He had another stint at WGN from 2000 to 2010 in multiple dayparts including afternoons, mornings, and fill-ins. He has also spent time at numerous other stations in Chicago including hosting mornings on AC 100.3 WPNT from 1994-96, multiple dayparts on 1000 WLUP and 97.9 WLUP-FM from 96-99, and afternoons at 560 WIND from 2011 to 2013. Cochran also hosted late mornings at KTRS St. Louis from 2010 to 2013 and hosted mornings at KDWB Minneapolis from 1988-93 and had a very brief run at “Z100” WHTZ New York in early 1996.
Cochran, who has been filling in on the morning slot for the past month, fills the opening created by the exit of Bruce St. James (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/223176/bruce-st-james-departs-mornings-at-wls/) in early April.
CHICAGO – June 7, 2022 – Cumulus Media’s (NASDAQ: CMLS) WLS-AM 890 today announced a proven winner in Chicago radio will bring his talent and deep Chicago roots to “The Steve Cochran Show,” a new morning talk show that will air weekdays from 5:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. beginning June 15, 2022.
“I’m delighted to welcome Steve to our team, where I know he will bring his wisdom, wit, and political prowess to morning drive,” said Stephanie Tichenor, Program Director WLS-AM 890. “Our listeners need a place to feel safe to express their opinions while having a destination for entertainment, news, and, of course, conservative conversation. Steve will provide that for our Chicagoland audience. I’m looking forward to growing 890 with Steve Cochran in the mornings.”
