Lennartz has been with WXRT since 1981 in multiple roles including morning show producer, overnight host, Creative Assistant to Programming, and host of both “Live from Studio X” and “The Big Beat”. He has been in the afternoon drive slot since the retirement of Frank E. Lee in 2015. He takes the morning show slot that will be vacated by Richard Milne (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/226786/richard-milne-to-depart-mornings-at-wxrt-to-care-for-wife/) at the end of this week to care for his wife.
Annalisa, whose addition to the WXRT airstaff (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/227416/annalisa-joins-wxrt/) last week came without an announcement on daypart, will fill Lennartz’ slot in afternoons. She currently holds that position at Northeast Broadcasting’s “92.5 The River (https://theriverboston.com)” WXRV Boston.
Audacy announces 93XRT (WXRT-FM) afternoon host Marty Lennartz will transition to host the Chicago station’s morning drive beginning June 13. Lennartz will succeed Richard Milne, who recently announced he is stepping away.
“Marty has exemplified excellence at every move during his 40 plus year career at WXRT,” said Laura Duncan, Brand Manager, 93XRT. “Chicago will start the day with a friend they’ve known for years.”
“I couldn’t be more excited about doing mornings on XRT and follow in the footsteps of three of my best friends, Terri Hemmert, Lin Brehmer and Richard Milne,” said Lennartz. “I started my career getting up early to produce Terri Hemmert’s morning show after being her student at Columbia College and now all these years later I get to host.”
Lennartz, a Chicago native, joined 93XRT in 1981 as a producer for Terri Hemmert’s morning show. In 1986, he became a full time DJ providing the soundtrack for the all-nighters and early risers as longtime overnight host. In the mid-2000’s, Lennartz was named Creative Assistant to Programming, which came with a wide range of responsibilities from music programming to writing to production. He also helped establish 93XRT’s “Live from Studio X” series, hosting close to 100 performance and interview sessions with some of music’s biggest artists. After introducing 93XRT listeners to new artists as host of “The Big Beat” for 14 years, Lennartz came back to the air full-time as afternoon host.
Annalisa, who was announced June 2 as the newest addition to the 93XRT lineup, will host afternoon drive beginning June 13.
