The move marks a return to Power 96 for Calder who served in the roles of APD/MD, Imaging Director, and midday host from 2013 to 2018. Calder then moved to Cox as Program Director of “Power 95.3” WPYO Orlando through its demise (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/222100/power-95-3-orlando-to-sign-off-thursday/) at the end of March and added similar duties at WPOI in 2019. Prior to his first stint at WPOW-FM, Calder served served as APD of “Z88.9” WBZC Pemberton NJ, Production Director and Assistant Music Director at CBS Radio’s “92.3 Now” WNOW-FM and “92.3 Amp Radio” WBMP New York, on-air at “103.7 Kiss-FM” WXSS Milwaukee and in multiple roles at “Energy 92.7/5” WKIE/WKIF/WDEK Chicago.
Audacy announced the appointment of Will Calder as Director of Programming and Operations of Power 96 (WPOW-FM) in Miami. Calder will oversee content strategy for the station and specific areas of operations for additional stations in Miami. This marks Calder’s second stint with Power 96, as he previously served as assistant program director and midday host for the station from 2013 to 2018.
“We’re excited to bring Will back to Miami to oversee programming of this local favorite,” said Claudia Menegus, Regional President, Audacy. “His extensive background and his connection to this market provides a vision and strategic plan to draw on the brand’s rich legacy and position Power 96 for continued success.”
“I’m so excited and humbled to join the team at Audacy Miami and reunite with my former colleagues at the legendary Power 96. In a way, it sort of feels like a homecoming,” said Calder. “Big thanks to Jeff Sottolano, Dave Richards, Claudia Menegus and everyone at Audacy who helped to make this opportunity a reality.”
Calder launched his career in 2001 with various stops including Big City Radio (WKIE) in Chicago, Audacy Milwaukee’s 103.7 Kiss FM (WXSS-FM) and 99.1 Mix (WMYX-FM), WXRK-FM in New York and most recently Cox Media Group’s WPYO in Orlando and WPOI-FM in Tampa. From 2005 to 2013, Calder helped create RADIOMIXES.com, a nationally syndicated radio mix show with Audacy Chicago’s B96 (WBBM-FM) and Audacy Milwaukee’s 103.7 Kiss FM as their first two affiliates. At its prime, RADIOMIXES was heard on hundreds of radio stations all over the world. Additionally in 2005, Calder created an internet radio station called iPartyRadio, which played non-stop up-tempo dance and party music, quickly becoming one of the top 200 most listened to internet streams in the world during its era.
