Mondell previously had two stints as SVP/Programming for iHeartMedia Indianapolis from 2016-2019 and again in 2020 with a seven month run as Program Director at Classic Rock “Big 100” WBIG-FM and Alternative “DC 101” WWDC Washington DC in between. He has previously programmed Alternative “Alt 106.3” KDXA and Sports 1460 KXNO Des Moines and Active Rock “98 Rock” 97.9 WXTB Tampa and worked on-air at “Zeta 94.9” WZTA Miami, “93X” WMFS Memphis and “620 The Sports Animal” WDAE Tampa.
Cumulus Media (NASDAQ: CMLS) announces that it has appointed Mike “Killabrew” Mondell as Program Director for Indianapolis Classic Hits radio station WJJK-FM and Rock station WNDX-FM. The appointment is effective Monday, May 9, 2022.
Mondell joins Cumulus Indianapolis after a notable run with iHeartMedia, where he served as Director of Rock Programming for the Washington, D.C., cluster and, more recently, as Senior Vice President of Programming for the company’s Indianapolis group. Earlier stops in Mondell’s career include Program Director positions in Tampa and Des Moines with oversight of multiple stations in each market.
“WJJK is already a market-leading, ratings-winning and revenue-generating radio staple in this town and the recent uptick of ratings success for WNDX is exciting to see,” said Christopher “Boomer” Layfield, Operations Manager, Cumulus Indianapolis. “Installing an experienced and dynamic programming leader with Mike’s expertise is a huge win for these stations. He’s got an infectious passion for creating great radio and a clear strategy to expand our footprint in the social and digital spheres, while also elevating our NTR game, all for the benefit of our listeners and advertisers.
