Mack joins the company after eight years as PD of CHR “Hot 107.9 (https://hot1079fortwayne.com)” WJFX and Variety Hits “103.9 Wayne-FM (https://1039waynefm.com)” WWFW Fort Wayne IN. He has also worked on-air at CHR “Q92” WDJQ Canton OH and Hot AC 98.1 WKDD Akron.
Bryan Broadcasting General Manager Ben Downs commented “When you’re finding a replacement for people who worked here for 10 years, you know you’ll need to find someone with special skills and talents. Like Frito and Katy before him, Rob understands radio and knows how to reach an audience. And he has the gift of being a person who can make our systems run like the Marconi-winning station we’re used to. He’s a great fit and an extremely gifted programmer. We plan on learning a lot from him.
Mack added “I can’t wait to get to Texas and get started at Candy 95 and Bryan Broadcasting. Through each step of the process, it became more and more apparent that this was the place to be. They still do radio the right way, with jocks in the studios and on the streets. They wrap their arms around the local B/CS community and the listeners return the favor. Anyone that knows me knows I’m passionate about local radio. I feel like I just got the best gig of the year.”
Mack fills the opening created by the departures (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/216857/frito-katy-announce-upcoming-departure-from-knde/) of former Director of Operations Tucker ‘Frito’ Young and Program Director Katy Dempsey to mornings at Cox Country “Y100 (https://www.y100fm.com)” KCYY San Antonio at the end of 2021 (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/218179/frito-katy-join-y100-san-antonio/).
Afternoon host Ted Hallowell, who has been filling-in mornings since the departure of Young and Dempsey, will remain permanently in that timeslot. Mack is beginning the hunt for morning co-host and midday host and says interested applicants can send resumes, airchecks and social media links to careers@bryanbroadcasting.com.
