Steele joins WZPL from Cumulus Mobile AL, where he has served as Operations Manager and PD of Conservative Talk 660 WXQW (https://www.660wxqw.com) since June 2017 (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/118224/jimmy-steele-joins-cumulus-mobile-operations-manager/) and Program Director of CHR 97.5 WABD (https://www.975wabd.com) since August 2018. Steele has previously served as SVP/Programming for iHeartMedia Salisbury MD, Director of Operations/Brand Manager for Saga Communications Columbus OH, OM/Director of Programming for Clear Channel San Diego, VP/Programming and PD of CHR 97.9 WNCI Columbus OH, “107.5 The River” WRVW Nashville, “Kiss 98.5” WKSE Buffalo, and “Z104” WZEE Madison.
He succeeds JR Ammons, who departed (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/218874/jr-ammons-joins-audacy-kansas-city-as-operations-manager/) to become Operations Manager for Audacy Kansas City in January.
Cumulus Media (NASDAQ: CMLS) announces that it has appointed Jimmy Steele as Program Director for Indianapolis Top 40 station, WZPL-FM/99.5 ZPL. Steele joins Cumulus Indianapolis from Cumulus Mobile, AL, where he has been Operations Manager for the five-station cluster, Program Director of Cumulus Mobile’s Top 40 station WABD-FM and News/Talk station WXQW-AM since 2017. Steele makes the move to Indianapolis and WZPL-FM on Monday, April 18th.
Prior to joining Cumulus Media, Steele held Operations Manager positions for iHeartMedia clusters in Ocean City, MD, Columbus, OH, and San Diego, CA, and has programmed Top 40 stations in multiple markets, including Nashville, TN, Buffalo, NY, and Madison, WI.
