KUSA will continue to be the exclusive Denver Broncos broadcast partner for multiple years of a new contract, the two entities announced Thursday. This translates to ratings gold for the local station, which continues its claim to the top spot in the Denver TV market. How golden are the Broncos in TV terms? In January, the (ill-fated for the Broncos) Denver-Baltimore game drew the highest rating in 19 years for an AFC Saturday divisional NFL playoff game. It was watched by some 35.3 million viewers nationally.
The contract extension includes local programming (“Broncos Huddle,” “Broncos Tonight” and “Broncos Game Day LIVE”) in addition to regular season games–several in primetime (http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_23055146/denver-broncos-2013-nfl-schedule)– plus the following preseason games in August: at San Francisco 49ers — Aug. 8 (7 p.m. MDT); at Seattle Seahawks — Aug. 17 (8 p.m. MDT); and vs. Arizona Cardinals — Aug. 29 (7 p.m. MDT).
The Broncos will play in five primetime games including a pair on Thursday Night Football, two on Sunday Night Football and another on Monday Night Football. The Broncos’ full schedule is here (http://www.coloradomedia.net/forums/www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_23055146/denver-broncos-2013-nfl-schedule).
