I found KFEZ has started a new Facebook page and website promoting its upcoming switch to an all-'80s format called "Gnarly 101.3." The Facebook page shows pictures of the studios under construction, with a planned launch date of May 1.

What format is KFEZ now?
Is there a new company or LMA taking over KFEZ to do this format switch?

I beleive they were doing oldies for Crusine station?
It seems like it since they are building a brand new station from the ground up!
The sad thing is?
They still don't have some one that can make a decent webpage! It wouldn't suprise me if they sold it, since that station has never been managed right at all!

The LMA with SoCo Radio ended last July. I think the new station is being run via LMA by another company since new studios are being built in Old Colorado City, rather than remaining at SoCo's Edison Avenue offices.

I found their website at: http://gnarly1013.com (http://gnarly1013.com/)
It seems the phone number they have listed goes to one of the guys who have been doing a show about marijuana. Here the web site: https://thedailydoseradioshow.com/
I saw that Jim Coda was asking on their Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/pages/category/Radio-Station/Gnarly-1013FM-401746990615869/) who is running it. But didn't get a reply.

Looks like it's being run by Paul Shideler.

It keeps getting bumped.
I built a radio studio and if the latest pics are current, they will be lucky to be on the air by June 1st unless they use a temporary location that is already done and has a microwave uplink to the transmitter.

Yeah. They've been simulcasting KQSC "Mountain Country" 1530/107.3 for the past couple weeks.

They posted pics yesterday of their studios on their Facebook... a very dated mixing board and surprisingly minimal setup... hopefully that's not really it and they have audio desks and newer equipment for their on-air studio.
Will be interesting to hear how they sound when they go live.

3 months after their initial on-air date... that's a lot... I guess my post about being lucky to go on by June 1st was a little conservative.
I was looking at their coverage since I used to live in the Springs 25 years ago and their transmitter is east of Walsenburg and is lucky to cover any of the Springs with a decent signal.
It also looks like there's a translator at 101.1FM that is broadcasting from Cheyenne Mountain that would interfere.
Can anyone in the Springs confirm about their (the 101.3FM signal) coverage in the past?

The station had a clear signal over 60-70% of Colorado Springs, though it was spotty in parts of downtown. Two years ago, I mentioned that their stereo exciter may have been turned off to get more range since there were comments about poor audio.

I wish him luck! i hope he can tons of accounts and get tons of listeners! Glad to see that someone is taking that confusing station into the right direction for once? Now people well know what the format is for once in it's history!

Gnarly is broadcasting on auto-pilot for the moment. I just heard music with no station or legal IDs when I listened earlier today. The station's website now says the official kickoff will be on August 26th.
Even in southern Colorado Springs, the signal was a bit muddy, especially in areas without a clear line-of-sight to the south. I heard an infrequent cut in from the 101.1 FM repeater for KZNT when I was on the west end of town. The transmitter may still be getting tuned up, so that may or may not make a difference come next week.
