KRCC recently purchase KILE 89.5 FM in Woodland Park to improve its coverage in the area. KILE had been owned by Grace Public Radio with an oldies/jazz format, but it was silent for a few years before the sale. The station's new call sign will be KWCC.

91.5 KRCC is extending and improving its coverage northwestward with a newly acquired 100-watt transmitter located in Woodland Park.
The new transmitter, which will be operating at the frequency 89.5 FM, will carry 91.5 KRCC programming by July 5. The Woodland Park transmitter will improve signal coverage, allowing for continuous coverage as motorists wind their way from Colorado Springs to Lake George, Hartsel, and beyond.
The transmitter currently has the call letters KILE, but 91.5 KRCC has applied to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for a call letter change to KWCC.
“We are really excited to better serve the growing population to the northwest. Our dedication to providing the best and most relevant local news coverage and NPR has never been stronger, as well as developing our evening music service. We are very happy to strengthen our signal to include more communities,” says 91.5 KRCC General Manager Tammy Terwelp. “There are several other strong public radio signals in that area and we wanted to make sure we are having an impact since we are the hometown public station for that area of Colorado,” Terwelp says.
The signal is expected to be live this week to test and fine tune some engineering aspects and then be at full power shortly after.
The signal purchase is part of 91.5 KRCC’s recent strategic growth as well as their planned move to a new 10,000-square-foot broadcast facility located at 720 N. Tejon St. in Colorado Springs.
91.5 KRCC operates 10 transmitters and translators, and one HD signal, covering 20,000 square miles of Southern Colorado.
