Ana Cabrera, a Denver native and former KMGH-Channel 7 news anchor, has been named anchor of CNN’s weekend prime time programming effective immediately.
CNN announced Cabrera will succeed Poppy Harlow, who will now co-host CNN Newsroom weekdays.She will anchor CNN Newsroom from New York on Saturdays from 1 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. MT, and Sundays from 3 to 6 p.m. MT, according to the press release.
Cabrera joined CNN as a correspondent in 2013 and was most recently part of the network’s investigative team. The weekend prime time post has become a jumping off point to a bigger platform; previous weekend anchor Don Lemon now anchors a prime time weeknight show.
Cabrera was a 7News morning anchor 2009-13, after which she helped launch the four-person CNN regional bureau in Denver.
