From Radio Insight: Silicon Valley Asian Media Group’s 92.3 KSJO San Jose CA has moved its four brands to Radio.Cloud‘s browser based operating system as it prepares for expansion across the country. Silicon Valley Asian Media Group currently operates South Asian Hits “Bolly 92.3” on the primary KSJO signal as well as digital/streaming brands Telugu “Virijallu FM” on KSJO-HD2, South Asian Podcasts “SaFire Radio” on KSJO-HD3, and Dance/Alternative “High-Fi Dream” on KSJO-HD4. The stations are among the first to utilize Radio.Cloud for live broadcasts over several hours daily. The company says following the transition they were able to downsize to a more cost-effective studio and engineering facility due to the ability to broadcast from anywhere and smaller hardware footprint. CEO Brad Behnke commented, “We chose to migrate our four channels to Radio.Cloud transitioning out of the traditional broadcast studio/engineering facility set-up. It essentially positions our company to be able to scale quickly and efficiently providing necessary, live and locally-produced content without needing an expensive office or studio complex, with the flexibility of originating a live studio from anywhere. We envision using Radio.Cloud in each new market we enter as we continue to rapidly scale our South Asian radio group platform into 10-15 more markets across the U.S. in a short amount of time? Radio.Cloud CEO Christian Brenner said, “Bolly 92.3 is broadcasting live for several hours each day in a way that no other radio station ever has. This complex operation takes place completely in a web browser and includes multiple live SIP calls with a call waiting feature, all driven by the Radio.Cloud live studio. With three mainly automated stations and one heavily live, KSJO is truly embracing the power of our cloud platform.? KSJO Program Director Gregg Pirillo stated, “Radio.Cloud has redefined programming for me, and I believe it will do the same for the entire industry when they choose to take the leap. Being able to program from anywhere in the world is an advantage in and of itself, but with access to a ?Live Studio? as well, for myself and all our hosts, we are finding it to be a dream. Working step by step with the brilliant team at Radio.Cloud has allowed us to develop a system fit our specific needs, and with more capabilities than we?ve ever had. This is the future for the radio industry, and thankfully for us the future is now.? more

From Radio Insight: The cuts continue at Beasley Media Group as Andre Gardner has exited as afternoon host at Classic Rock 102.9 WMGK Philadelphia. Gardner was given the opportunity to do a final break on the station this afternoon and shared a statement online writing: I wanted to let you know that today, 10/18/24, is my last day on 102.9 MGK. The radio business has faced huge challenges over the last decade, with a continuing decrease in ad revenues and the shift to digital. This change has forced radio companies like Beasley, Heart and Audacy to make some tough strategic decisions. Yesterday I was informed that, due to budgetary issues, my position has been eliminated. I want to thank Market Manager Paul Blake and our PD Eric Johnson for gifting me a true rarity in this business – the chance to say goodbye on the air this afternoon. I will be forever grateful. It has been a dream come true for me to be your afternoon host on MGK lo these many years. The experiences and memories I’ve had, and the men and women l’ve had the pleasure of meeting and working with, has been an incredible honor, a great privilege, and a hell of a lot of fun. Many thanks to my friend Buzz Knight for bringing me to Philly and MGK in 2002, after almost a decade in NYC. It was so nice to come home! I can’t say much now about what’s next on MGK afternoons, but I assure you that you will be in good hands. What’s next for me? Who knows?! And THAT is actually very exciting! From the bottom of my heart, thank YOU for hanging with me and being on the other end of the speakers or ear buds. I’ve loved every minute of it. Gardner had been in afternoons at WMGK for twenty-two years joining the station in 2002. He began his radio career at 97.5 WPST Trenton NJ in 1977 and spent much of his career in the Philadelphia area with stints at 990 WZZD, 92.5 WIFI, 104.5 WSNI, 106.1 WZGO, and 94.1 WYSP. He also spent time at WAPW Atlanta, KEGL and KZEW Dallas, and had an eight year run at “92.3 K-Rock” WXRK New York with time as APD/MD, Program Director, Production Director, and Howard Stern’s dump button operator. He also hosted the syndicated “Breakfast With The Beatles” from 2002 to 2022. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Andr? Gardner (@andregardner) more
